| Local Schools Fundraise for Duchy RDA |
Duchy RDA is run and funded completely voluntarily. So it is with great appreciation that two local schools who come and ride every Wednesday afternoon are putting together their artistic talent to produce a calendar to raise funds for their local group. Both Milford School and Launceston College have entered into a drawing competition from which twelve pictures will be chosen to earn a place in the 2013 calendar.
"The children are very exited to be involved and thrown themselves 100% into the project" says Juliette Snelgrove Chairman Duchy RDA
The calendar will go into production in July 2012 and will be sold for £7.50 through the Group and online and it is hoped to raise £1,000 to cover the cost of insuring the Duchy Groups horses. |

| WORLDS BIGGEST RIDING LESSON |
| On probably one of the hottest days of the year Duchy College Group took part in the Worlds Biggest Riding Lesson, the aim being to raise as much money as possible for the group. Starting at 12pm and going through until 5pm groups of enthusiastic riders took part and various Group Instructors ensured that everyone completed the set lesson plan. Rosettes were given participants to thank them for their fundraising efforts, the total amount raised was in excess of £800. A big Thank You to everyone that took part and helped to raise money for Duchy Group. |

| Summer Fund Raising |
| There were a couple of events that helped with fund raising over the summer. We had a very successful tombola at Stoke Climsland Flower Festival which raised nearly £200 for RDA National and St Dominics Gymkhana and Horse Show raised £400 for Duchy Group. One of our horses Cash put in a special appearance at the show and had great fun taking part in one of the show classes where his enthusiasm and good looks wowed the judge who placed him 3rd! |
County Fun Day At Old Mill Stables 15th June 2011 |
| A group of 8 pupils from Launceston College travelled down to Old Mill Stables near Hayle for an RDA County Fun Day organised by SW Cornwall RDA Group. Despite the changeable weather everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the Gymkhana games and the Handy Pony competition and everyone was cheered on by their classmates. All riders came away with handfuls of rosettes including several 1st and 2nd places for their efforts. A special mention must go to Jake and Luke who came 1st and 4th in the Handy Pony Class out of some 36 riders, well done to everyone who attended. |
RDA Duchy Group gets more First Aiders |
| Cherie Walker, Dea Price and Juliette Snelgrove have all successfully completed a Level 2 Emergency First Aid Course. This now brings the total number of First Aiders for the Duchy Group to 5, which means we have got plenty of cover on Wednesday afternoons! |
| Lakefield Regional Dressage 24th May 2011 |
We had another fantastic day at the Regional Dressage Day with several riders contesting qualifiers for the Nationals. One of our ponies Mel had her first outing and despite lots of calling to start with she soon settled and produced 3 very calm dressage tests. The Countryside Challenge proved to be just that but overall Mel behaved very well. Our riders had a great day with both Clair Poole and Peter Milburn qualifying for the Nationals at Hartpury In July, Clair in Countryside Challenge who was riding Cash and Peter in the dressage who was riding Mel. Esme and Sophie just missed out on qualifying in their classes, however they were both thrilled with more rosettes to add to their collections. Huge thanks go to the people who came to help out on the day including Cherie who gets the horses there for us, and the many people on the ground Jackie, Sarah, Dea, Jill, Marc, Linda and Juliette. It's a real team effort and we really appreciate your help.

| CARL HESTER RDA REIN |
Inspired by the success of the Fantastic Elastic
Rein, Carl Hester and his team have developed a
new rein that will especially benefit the RDA.
The rein is made from a non-slip, easy to hold,
waterproof rubber fabric and has been designed to
clip on to the bit ring or head collar.
The elastic inserts eliminate any resistance
between the horse and rider and allow the rider to
develop feel and a better connection with the
horse.
Although the reins are currently available for
purchase on line at www.carlhesterrein.co.uk the
official launch will be at the RDA National
Championships at Hartpury College on July 9th and
10th 2011, where there will be a stand selling both
the horse and pony sizes at £27 and £25
respectively.
To celebrate the launch of this rein Carl Hester is
donating a Trophy which will be awarded to the
rider/horse combination who scores the highest percentage over the 16 Championship classes.

CALLINGTON YFC RAISE FUNDS FOR A NEW HORSE
|
 |
RDA Duchy Group have recently bought a new horse. His name is Cash and the group have been using him in sessions since earlier this year. At just 8 years old Cash has proved himself to be the perfect RDA horse and when the opportunity arose to buy him the group did so without hesitation. Cash travelled to the presentation of a cheque from the Callington Young Farmers along with several members of the group on Thursday 14th October. The £4000 was raised through hard work from YFC members running various events including a dung sale, a mowathon and a horse show. A huge thank you to Callington YFC for their fantastic fund raising effort. |
